2008 May > MADD Awards MADD Durham Region held their Annual Awards Night last month in Whitby. The purpose of this night is to honour those special people in our community that make significant contributions to the fight against Impaired Driving. A number of people were honoured with nominations and awards. The awards handed out were: Community Hero, Volunteer of the Year, Media Award, and Police Officer of the Year. The award recipients all received a granite plaque, certificate, and a gift. The Police officer of the Year also had his name engraved on a perpetual plaque that hangs in their particular headquarters or the MADD Durham office year-round.
