Innovation Award

Congratulations to The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department in receiving the Technical Innovation Award from the Ontario Public Works Association (OPWA). The award is in recognition of the Region’s original use of the P330+ Flexiprobe in replacing polybutylene water service connections. The Region is currently in the process of replacing upwards of 2,500 polybutylene water service connections - service connections that run from a municipal watermain to a shut-off valve at the property line in front of a house. A laborious and expensive task, until recently when the Region found an innovative approach to replace the polybutylene water service connections.
